Update: I have fixed all the links to the fonts. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Hiya! I hope everyone has had a great weekend! For me, it went too fast, but then it again it always does. My kids were very active and I tried in van to get ahead in laundry. And I even managed to snap a few pics of my girls which will hopefully get scrapped in the near future.
Today, I am here to talk about selecting the right font for the mood and look of your layout. I know that journaling and fonts are often the last thing that scrappers think of when constructing a layout. Isn’t all about the pictures and products? Well, yes, pictures and product are important but the wrong font can clash with the entire look of a layout and ruining cohesive look. Now, in the end, the story is what is important but just a few more more moments taken in selecting a font and then your page can go from eh to wow! Here are some of my own layouts and a quick tip or comment about why I select the font and then at the end I will have a quick list of my favorite go to fonts for journaling and titlework. (All layouts are linked for credits)
1. Script fonts are great for elegant, girly, or romantic pages. This page is about the sister bond between my two daughters. They are 19 months apart and closer than I ever was with my brother. I wanted to focus on the story and the photos, so for the title I used Lavenderia font. It was the perfect choice.

2. Typewriter fonts are good for a clean and computerized look or for an old fashioned look depending of which one you use. On the layout above, I used Bohemian Typewriter for my journaling, it really help tie together that handcrafted, old fashioned look I was going for. By contrast, the layout below uses Traveling Typewriter and is all about the iPhone. Two typewriter fonts for two totally different looks!

3. For a paper style or a personal style, use a handwriting font, either your own of someone elses. I love handwriting fonts. I am fortunate to have my handwritng as not one but two fonts. One is available as WM[squared]’s Aunt Bea font and the second was done by Darcy Baldwin. The page below is all about me and being a St. Patrick’s baby. It was only fitting that I used my own handwriting. If you have your own font, fabulous! But if not, it is totally cool to use any handwriting fonts, they are some amazing ones out there!

3. For titlework, try using a chunky script to add words. Okay this is one of my favorite things to do right now. I will generally use an alpha and then for additional words, I will use a script like Pacifico and then make it a sticker. That is exactly what I did on this layout:

And finally a very short list of my favorite fonts:
Script/Romantic: Lavenderia, Scriptina, and Jellyka Bees Antique Handwriting
Typewriter: Bohemian Typewriter, Traveling Typewriter, and Problem Secretary
Handwriting: WM Aunt Bea, custom fonts here and here, DJB Tweenybopper (as part of a pack)
Script/Thick: Pacifico, Black Jack, and Lobster
And there you go! I will be back tomorrow and please share in the comments your favorite fonts, I am always on the lookout for some good ones. Until then, happy scrapping!
